Penny Wise Campaign is now the We ALL Count Campaign

The Penny Wise Campaign was launched when Miami-Dade County, FL Mayor Carlos Alvarez proposed a budget for Miami-Dade that would eliminate all funding for community-based organizations in social services, environment and the arts effective October 1, 2009.

Thousands of Miami-Dade residents organized in response to these plans, attending planning meetings, forming strategies, signing petitions, demonstrating at rallies, and forming collaborations across organization and sector.

Penny Wise Campaigners were an awesome force at the County budget hearings in August and September. At total of 1,151 signed our petition to prevent these cuts.

Now, thanks in large part to your strong shared message, nonprofits were not eliminated from the budget. Instead, 70% of last year's budget amount is available, but how that will be divided is not yet clear.
